Corpses were anointed by the Romans as part of their burial rituals and customs. Anointing the body with oils and perfumes was believed to help preserve the body and mask the odor of decay. It was also seen as a way to honor and show respect for the deceased. Additionally, anointing the body was thought to have religious significance, as it was believed to help prepare the soul for the afterlife. **

Jesus was anointed with oil by a woman in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John. In the Gospel of Matthew and Mark, the oil is described as being poured on his head, while in the Gospel of John, it is described as being poured on his feet. The oil used for anointing Jesus is not specifically mentioned in the Bible, but it is generally believed to have been a fragrant and expensive oil, such as spikenard. This anointing is seen as a symbolic act of honoring and preparing Jesus for his crucifixion and burial, and is often interpreted as a sign of his divine mission as the Christ. **

No, a knight and an anointed knight are not the same thing. A knight is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a monarch or other political leader, typically for military service. An anointed knight, on the other hand, refers to a knight who has been blessed with holy oil by a religious figure, often as part of a religious ceremony or ritual. This distinction highlights the religious or spiritual aspect associated with being anointed, in addition to the secular recognition of knighthood. **

No, Mohammed was not anointed in the same way that prophets and kings were traditionally anointed in ancient times. Anointing was a common practice in the ancient world to signify divine approval and authority, but there is no historical record of Mohammed being anointed in this manner. Instead, Mohammed received his divine calling through revelations from Allah and was recognized as a prophet by his followers based on his teachings and actions. **

No, Mohammed was not anointed in the same way as prophets and kings at that time. In Islamic tradition, prophets are chosen and appointed by Allah directly, without the need for anointing by others. Mohammed received his prophethood through revelation from Allah, and his authority as a prophet was recognized by his followers based on his teachings and miracles. Anointing is not a practice in Islam for appointing prophets or leaders. **

The story is found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John, with slight variations in the details. **

Jehovah's Witnesses believe in the concept of spirit-anointed ones based on their interpretation of certain biblical passages, such as Romans 8:16-17 and 2 Corinthians 1:21-22. They believe that these passages refer to a select group of individuals who are chosen by God to be anointed with holy spirit and have a special heavenly calling. Therefore, they often talk or write about spirit-anointed ones as a central part of their theology and understanding of the Christian faith, even though the specific term may not appear in the Bible. This belief is central to their understanding of the role and purpose of these individuals within their religious community. **
